Since 1995, the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought has been celebrated on 17 June. The General Assembly of the United Nations established it in order to draw the attention of both decision-makers and ordinary people to this phenomenon, the effects of which are being felt by humanity ever more often and ever more intensely.

Five scientists from the Wrocław University of Environmental & Life Sciences were awarded in the MINIATURA 5 competition. They each received nearly PLN 50,000 for research in the field of veterinary medicine, animal science and fishery, as well as food and nutrition technology.

The fellowship of the Foundation for Polish Science START was awarded for the 24th time – it is the fellowship for the most able young scientists under the age of 30. Among the top three there is Doctor Krzysztof Sośnica from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław.

The Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences is a member of the WRO4diglTal consortium, which creates the EDIH – European Digital Innovation Hub. The program developed by the European Commission to coordinate and support the digital transformation of economies aims to increase the level of digitalization in the EU, thereby increasing the competitive advantage of companies and improving the functioning of public administration.

As many as 11 research projects by scientists from the UPWr have received funding from the National Science Centre in the PRELUDIUM 20 competition, and seven in OPUS 21. And this is not a full list of our successes in recent competitions by the National Science Centre. Among others, we were also awarded during the last editions of TANGO, BEETHOVEN and MINIATURE 5.

Photovoltaic panels on the Centre for Teaching and Research, and the Department of Physical Education and Sport swimming pool are the biggest photovoltaic installations in Wrocław placed on public buildings. UPWr is becoming a green university.
