The meeting, organized by the Association Institute for Remediation of Contaminated Areas along with REMEA, took place in Katowice.
As part of the meeting, representatives of the Association Institute for the Remediation of Contaminated Land presented the scope of its activities aimed at increasing public awareness of the occurrence of land contamination in Poland, the possibilities for its cleanup (remediation) and restoration of its utility and natural values (reclamation).
Later during the meeting, personnel of REMEA, a company engaged in environmental and geotechnical research, remediation, reclamation and full revitalization of degraded and contaminated areas, presented results of the project on remediation of the Kalina pond in Świętochłowice carried out in cooperation with researchers from the University of Agriculture in Krakow.
The meeting was an opportunity for discussions with both REMEA personnel and employees of scientific and research institutions in fields related to environmental cleanup and remediation, on topics concerning the impact of environmental pollutants on ecosystems biodiversity, revitalization of anthropogenically degraded areas, bioindication of environmental pollutants, ecotoxicology, bioremediation or remediation of heavy metals.
