Specialized field study of environmental engineering students

The entry may contain outdated data.
From 26.06. to 29.06.2023, first-year students of second-cycle studies in environmental engineering participated in specialized field study.

The trip was organized and led by Dr. Justyna Kubicz from our Institute and Dr. Wojciech Łyczko from the Department of Environmental Protection and Development. The aim of the class was to allow students to expand their knowledge related to their future profession. Students became familiar with the technical and operational details of hydraulic structures and facilities and learned about the work and management system of waste disposal and management plants and sewage treatment plants.

The places visited include:

  • the small hydropower station in Wrocław, ul. Mączna,
  • the dam and hydroelectric power station in Pilchowice,
  • Lwówek Śląski and Wleń (flood protection system),
  • the Waste Disposal Center in Lubań,
  • the Karkonosze Waste Management Center in Ścięgny-Kostrzyca,
  • the sewage treatment plant in Lubań,
  • Sosnówka and Dobromierz water reservoirs and surface water intakes,
  • Sobieszów dry flood control reservoir,
  • the process water reservoir for the Turów Power Station in Niedów,
  • water treatment stations in Dobromierz and Pszenno.

In addition to a huge dose of knowledge, the students made new friends and recharged their batteries surrounded by beautiful nature. We hope that the events related to specialized field study will remain in the memory of our students for many years.
