At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the recently deceased Krystyna Matusiak who for many years supported our Institute in scientific research and in the realization of the teaching process.
During the meeting, several important issues related to the functioning of the Institute were discussed.
The director presented the process of transformation and development of the Water Laboratory. He touched on the Institute's cooperation with enterprises including SWECO Polska, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., MPWiK in Wrocław. He explained the Institute's participation in the SYMBIOREM project, which aims to reduce environmental pollution through innovative bioremediation processes. This project will run for the next 4 years. As part of its activities, we have partnered with the University of the Basque Country in Spain and the Greenovate! Europe organization.
An important moment of the meeting was welcoming the Institute's new employees Sylwia Charazińska, M.Eng., Jakub Misiewicz, M.Eng., Daria Marczak, M.Eng., and Dr. Paweł Tomczyk. New students of the Doctoral School were also introduced - Szymon Kilian, M.Eng. and Ahmed Tamma, M.Sc.
Of course, topics related to teaching in the upcoming semester were also discussed. Due to the new field of study, bioeconomy, there are new subjects that will be taught only in English.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katarzyna Pawęska and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paweł Lochyński proposed creating a series of classes to promote the Institute's fields of study. It was decided that these would primarily be classes showcasing our laboratories and their capabilities.
